Training with a bunch of guys
So we have had a nice mix of the opposite sex until today. Looking at a bunch of sweaty, stinking guys...can I say,"sucks" I would rather train with a bunch of chicks any day. Some were out of town, one broke her toe, weather kept one away and a few were missing in action but I know they have good reasons. Guys just don't show up...no real reasons. We had a new comers today that was the only girl and she kick ass. She jumped into it head first and didn't let up one bit and when it came to squats/abs....she out did ever single guy....Great job Millie!
Making it as hard as possible
I have been working with Martin and Kurt to make this harder. Well today, it was the hardest...period. We have been doing a series of routines that is set up in 10 minute circuit. Each circuit has between 5-6 stations with running between stations. The running doesn't give you the opportunity to recover. So today after 6 minutes my hr was 165 and climbing. I hit the 10 minute mark and was rolling at 170-175 and at the 25 minute mark I hit 188...I had to slow a bit to get it back down so I could actually breathe. I have seen 191 before but the 188 was steady and i thought I was going to share my gu with everyone. I really like the format and we finished up with some running.
Burning Like a Heater
So today my caloric burn was 1125 but I monitored my calorie burn for 1 hour after I finished and burned another 425 calories but I ate like a madman today. I was just so hungry and I am sure I ate more than I should have today, oh well.

FitCamp day 4 and 5
Let me get a last workout in....then evacuate.
Yeah..those were the plans and it just sucks. The panic, stress and spending to stay safe makes you crazy. So, we had a great hard workout. I had to leave early because I had a truckload of plants to unload. Ironic that fresh plants out of Florida came the day before evacuation. I decided to start early and Aiden and Ashton so I could get a full hour of torture. We did a mini bootcamp for 45 minutes before everyone showed up for the last workout before heading onto the roads for a ridiculous amount of time. I choose to send my boys to California via Southwest and Beth and I stayed home at the Harris Hotel.
Watch it...Watch it.....
My waist is getting smaller and the love handles are giving my wife less to grab...btw...that's a good thing. My overall body is changing with more muscles, less fat and a leaner look. I have battled through injuries with a shoulder issue, achilles and elbow. What makes the FitCamp work so well it that no matter what your limitations, a great workout is coming your way.
Show me what you got!
So today I decided to see what I was made of and really turn up the pressure. This last week has been a stressful episode of life and I decided to just beat myself as hard as I could.
I got on my bike and road as hard as I could for 45 minutes. I keep my Heart Rate between 165-175 for the full 45 mins and then ended up at FitCamp. I had already burned 1450 calories by the time I arrived and I never saw my heart rate drop below 155 even when I was just standing waiting for instructions.
Martin kicked my ass today and I am whipped. This is the thing for me as I really enjoy working as hard as I can. Of course, it not for everyone that what makes FitCamp so much fun.
Today was the first time in a long time that I just couldn't go any longer. Thanks for beating me into the ground.

FitCamp day 3
Save us Martin!
I want to start out by stating that Martin cannot take a vacation anymore because Kurt wants to kill us.
Now with that being said, I really liked the workout today. I like that fact that each one of us had the opportunity to really work at our "Own Pace". We started with some running to warm up along with some agility work. Kurt had a course set up with 5 different exercises that got us to the 24 minute mark of our hour. We did each routine 3 times which made the last exercise of the last set....the breaking point. Then we did more......
My Girlish Figure....
I burned 1125 calories today. I decided that "My Pace" was going to be 160-170 heart rate which seems to be the ticket for me. That keeps me at about 87% of my maximum heart rate and really makes me suffer. I made a huge mistake and did not drink enough fluids today. This resulted in feeling wreck this afternoon. I should have consumed 2 water bottles of CytoMax but I only drank one. This will slow my recovery down but you have to live and learn everyday.
Do I have to do Girl Exercises?
If you want to be the self proclaimed "God of Ass" you have to do the Girl routines. This means lunges after lunge after squats after squat. Just when you think you have done enough lunges/squats....do some more.

Fit Camp day 2
Slippidy....Sloppidy....
Today it was a sexist day!
We broke up into groups and basically boys played with the boys and girls played with the girls. I would have much rather played with the girls.
I will say that it was much easier today or maybe it was easier because I knew how hard it was going to be for the hour of pain. We had only 1 victim fall to his knees throwing up and then he signed up for a full month of pain. I am sure he will thank me one day but right now.... I called to check on him, he does want to talk to me...then he said I will see you next week.
Burn my Fat Off Please!
If you are tracking my calorie burn...1075 today. I'm 6' 1 1/2" and I have to work really hard at burning those calories in an hour. My heart rate was at 160-185 for most of the hour and it would only come down when we were doing upper body stuff...down to 155...what a break.
I don't think it for me!
Many people may hesitate or think this isn't for them because they run, swim, cycle or do some other type of training or none at all. Maybe they are nervous that they don't think they will be able to do it. FitCamp is at your own pace...you go as hard as you can...because nobody is going to judge you for what you can not do...You will be praised for what you can do. You take breaks if you needed, slow down the pace and work to the finish. Each time it gets easier as you gain fitness.
Lots of Training...little results
I often rode my bicycle 12-15 hrs per week as well as some other aerobic activity with little results. Today, I train 60% less and I am getting great results. I do 2- 1 hour circuit training session per week, FitCamp on Saturday, 1 hour cycling on Sunday, 30 min swim on Friday and 30 mins of running on Wednesday. I take 2 full days off for recovery and rest which really helps my body rebuild so I can train harder. These guys have me training as hard as I can and then the reward is I get days off to rest. I use to think that I needed to train 7 days per week but now I can not wait to sleep in or just do nothing. I often am so sore that I really need the days off to start feeling like a human again. The results are both physical and mental. I have reduced my midsection, I finally built up my arms and I feel great.
Bring a Friend
Got a friend that you might think will hate this...maybe its a payback for that joke he or she played on you last week. Bring that friend and teach them a lesson...a lesson on how much tougher you are than them. It's good fun and after...you can tell others..when they throw up.

FitCamp day 1
Not doing a FitCamp before and once being a fit athlete, I was very impressed with the difficulty and challenge of each exercise. Often you attend a group class and find that its either way to easy or way to hard. Martin and Kurt have a "at your own pace" program but its as hard you can go" at your own pace".
I did the FitCamp at my own pace. I spend most of the solid hour of training between 150-170 heartrate with several spikes to 185. I even saw 191 during a sprint section and that was enough to tell me that it was a hard workout. I was keeping track of my heartrate and workout using my Garmin 405 watch. In the post workout download, I saw a total of 1375 calories burned during this 1 hour of training. 1375...that is a really big number.
My 2 sons did Fitcamp as well and they are just 10 and 12. Aiden, the oldest, was telling me how much fun it was and they wanted to do it again on Sunday. Aiden worked so hard he threw up at about the 40 minute point. Ashton, the 10 year old, had enough at about the 45 minute point and resigned to watching us finish up.
I would can not wait till next Saturday to see what new challenges Martin and Kurt have for us.
